Please can parents make sure that the children have a pair of wellies in school, if possible, for when we go outside. It's also a good idea to have a spare pair of socks in their P.E. bag.
Science Week in Foundation Stage.
One of our activities - Useless Umbrella!
As we were playing outside it started to rain. Mrs Holland and Mrs Baynes put up their umbrellas to find that they were broken! The umbrellas had holes in them! We were given the challenge to fix the umbrellas with materials that we could find in class. Can we fix them? Will they be waterproof? Or are Mrs Holland and Mrs Baynes going to get very wet?
We looked at and explored the materials and talked about if we thought they would be good, or not, to fix the umbrellas. We tested some of the materials in water to check how suitable they were. We thought of ways to attach the patches – Glue? Tape? Staples? The fun part then came; testing the fixed umbrellas! We discovered that some materials worked better than others, we even had some that were waterproof!
An exciting and enjoyable activity as part of our whole school Science Week – October 2017.
