We are very lucky at St Catherine's Primary School, as we have a great team who work very hard in the kitchen to make lots of exciting meals. There is always lots of choice and a salad bar every day.
The infants go for lunch at 11.55am. All infant children are entitled to a free school meal however if your child prefers a packed lunch they are able to bring one from home.
The junior children start to go for lunch at 12.05pm. Every class has a day when they go into lunch first.
Healthy Heroes has been designed to help primary age children and their families make healthier food and activity choices. Choosing a school lunch is one of those choices
There's so much to choose from on our new winter menu, including new children's favourites. All our lunches are served with seasonal vegetables or as much as your child wants from the salad bars, plus pudding, yoghurt or fresh fruit.
All our menus are planned to meet new tough standards for food in schools and are checked using a recognised programme to analyse nutrition. We also work with Lancashire Healthy Schools and support the Change 4 Life campaign. The result is a menu your child will enjoy and that will prepare them for learning in the afternoon.
Lancashire County Council's Healthy Heroes and Mike McGreal's Healthy Heroes are independent initiatives. It is acknowledged that both parties offer differing but complimentary services and that both are happy to co-exist when providing support and health and fitness services to schools. Both projects offer excellent opportunities for schools and their pupils.
