SNOW PROCEDURES

Snow Procedures – Important Information

If it does snow, please assume that school is open unless you are informed otherwise. A school closure decision would only be made if staff are unable to arrive safely and on time. In the unlikely event of a closure, you will be notified via text message and Class Dojo. Please avoid calling the school to ask if we are open, as this ties up our phone lines.

If we have snow, the playground will likely be closed for safety reasons. In this case, please bring your children to the front of school, where they will enter via the hall door (the same entrance as used for Breakfast Club). We will keep the registers open and ask that children arrive between 8:45 and 9:00 am to help ease congestion.

To ensure children are appropriately dressed for the weather, they may wear PE kit with tracksuit bottoms or similar warm clothing. They will need a change of footwear for inside school, and a bag for wet wellies or boots. Please ensure your child has a hat and gloves, as we do allow children to play outside in the snow if they are suitably dressed. If they are not appropriately dressed, they will not be able to go outside.

Year 6 children will assist our younger pupils with changing their footwear in the hall to help keep everything running smoothly.

At the end of the school day, if the playground is safe, we will dismiss the children from there. If it remains unsafe, we will use the front field for dismissal. We will update you via text message and Class Dojo during the day if this is the case.
