Our Values Our Ethos
Welcome to St Catherine’s. We are a proud Catholic school with many strengths. We welcome children and families of all faiths and those with none - we recognise that we have so much more in common with each other than those things that make us different. We will therefore extend the warmest of welcomes to any family who chooses to send their child to our school.
We know that choosing a school for your child is one of the most difficult decisions a parent can make. We recognise that as parents you, most of all, want to know that we will know your child, that your child will be looked after, loved and pushed to reach their full potential.
At St Catherine's all staff show a real ambition for all our children and work so that the children's everyday lived experience in school reflects our belief that they are special because they are created in the image and likeness of God.
At St Catherine’s we adopt a traditional approach to our curriculum. We believe that with great teaching and hard work, all children can and will succeed. We listen to children read frequently and expect parents to do the same. We teach phonics rigorously and encourage children to choose from the array of books in our library. We teach maths with a healthy balance of rigour and fun. Children love to succeed and our ‘everyone will get there’ approach gives them the tools to do so.
We want our children to take risks, have a go at something that they didn't think they were capable of. We want our children to recognise that when they work hard, great things happen. Our children take great pleasure in producing their outstanding pieces of art work, representing school in various sporting competitions or taking a lead role in one of our productions.
I want you to know that if you choose St Catherine’s, we will know your child; we will know you as a family and we will guarantee that your child receives a first class education.
